We’ve had record registrations. The only courses that still have room in Windhoek are Forklift (day) and Shuttering (night).
Our oldest staff cannot remember a larger intake since they joined KAYEC in 2008. According to Evelyne Hansen, who helps trainees sign up at our front desk in Windhoek, numbers have jumped because KAYEC is reaching more people in rural areas. “It’s our adverts on Oshiwambo, Otjiherero and Nama radio,” she says. “We’re getting people from Keetmans, Lüderitz! And when people go back to their communities, we give brochures to take with them.” Other educational institutions, like Vocational Training Centres and Pionier Boys’ School for special-needs learners, are also referring more youths who can benefit from our services.
