General questions
What courses do you offer?
There is an overlook on our landing page, as well as more detailed information on the corresponding course sites in the “Vocational Trainings”-tab in the main menu.
How can I apply for Vocational Training?
You have to deposit N$ 50 at the bank first (click here for detailed account information). In the following, you either download, fill in and print the application form or you come to the office personally to collect it.
How much does the training cost?
Since KAYEC is funded by the NTA, the application fee of N$ 50 and a library fee of N$ 200 are the only payments that need to be done.
How long does it take me to complete the training?
All vocational trainings take 6 months to complete, the forklift training takes 2 weeks. Renewal of the forklift certificate can be done within 2 to 3 days.
Which levels do your trainings have?
Our offer ranges between level 1 (Brick laying and Plastering, Clothing Production (Fashion Design), Joinery and Cabinet Making, Plumbing and Pipefitting) and level 2 (Cosmetology, Electrical General (CBET), Automotive Engineering (Foundation), Welding and Metal fabrication).
We also offer Cellphone Repair/Electronics Unit Standard Base and the Early Childhood Development (ECD) Certificate.
What future perspective do I have with a KAYEC certificate?

What is proof that I attended and successfully completed my training?
Every graduate is awarded with the KAYEC certificate, legitimising the trainee’s level of trade.
Are there specific requirements for applying?
No, anyone can apply. No prior education or financial requirements needed.
Who can apply for training?
Anyone who can pay the application fee of N$ 50, is aged between 16 and 60 and intends to attend classes full time.
Can I attend a training part-time?
No, we offer full time trainings only.
Is it possible to do distance-learning?
No, if you want to apply for Vocational Training, you should be able to come to campus in either Windhoek or Ondangwa every day of the training.
Where are the Vocational Training Centres located?
We have Vocational Training Centres in Windhoek, Wanaheda (22°30’38.2″S 17°02’16.0″E) as well as in Ondangwa (17°54’52.6″S 15°58’43.3″E). Please note that not every training is offered in both locations. For more information, check out the specific website of your desired training programme. Choose in the tab “Vocational Trainings” of the main menu at the top of the website.
What do I have to bring for training?
Bring your own security boots for the training. We will provide overalls and stationary.
How do I volunteer at KAYEC or the KAYEC Youth Development Programme (KYD)?

Where can I buy a graduation robe?
When the time comes, you can voice your wish to buy a hat, a robe or all together to affordable prices to your supervisor or directly go to the finance department.
Who pays for the training?
KAYEC is a non-profit Vocational Training Centre funded by NTA, private sponsors and institutions. Due to this we can afford to offer vocational trainings free of charge.
Should I pay the application fee via bank deposit or in cash?
Payment can only be done by bank deposit. We don’t accept cash payment.
Can I download the application form or should I collect it at the office?
You can either download it here and print it or you can come to the office to collect it. Don’t forget to deposit the N$ 50 application fee in both cases before, though.
Should I deposit the application fee before or after filling in the form?
Do the bank deposit first and collect the application form afterwards.
At what age is it possible to apply for training?
It’s possible for everyone aged 16 to 60 years. For the upper limit, it should be guaranteed that the training isn’t hindered, though.

How can I apply for a forklift license?
For the forklift license it is also mandatory to deposit either the full amount of N$ 1500 or N$ 800 at the bank before you collect the application form at the office to fill it in. After that you will be given the date and time for the beginning of your course.
What are the costs of a forklift license?
The whole course including the certificate costs N$ 1500.
How long does the course take before I obtain the forklift license?
The duration of the course is 2 weeks.
At what date does the next intake start?
There are new intakes every 2 weeks. For detailed recent information, write an e-mail.
Is it possible to renew my forklift license at KAYEC?
Yes. In that case, you also have to make a deposit at your bank first. Costs are N$ 850. The training to freshen up your forklift skills and knowledge takes 3 days.
How long is the forklift license valid for?
2 years from the day stated on the certificate on.
What do I need a forklift license for?
Apart from the obvious employment as a forklift driver, this skill also comes in handy in a lot of other jobs in diverse trades involving logistics and construction work.
